The Project
Our friends at Craft London and McCann London needed help producing 18 adverts for Nurofen Express Mini. These were to be used for television, online and point of sale within pharmacies. They needed to follow a previous style of animation already used by Nurofen and work in various aspect ratios. The project required everything from 3D liquid simulation to sound design.
Our Approach
We used XParticles to create liquid simulations for this project as previous versions had been made in Houdini and a faster pipeline was needed to deliver the project on time. We built various simulations of the Nurofen pill splitting around the seams with busts of sirupy liquid and bubbles. We also built various non branded pills dissolving. Setting up the simulations was really pushing XParticles to its limits but it was fun to see how far we could take it. 3D renders were typically done in 1×1 to help repurposing to 9×16 aspect ratios and all composing and overlay animations were completed in After Effects. Sound design was made in Logic.
